School-Family Compact
The Haverhill High School and the families of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), agree that this compact outlines how families, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement and the means by which the school and families will build and develop a partnership that will help students achieve the State’s high standards.
This compact is in effect during the school year 2024-2025
School Responsibilities
Haverhill High School will provide:
1. high-quality curriculum and instruction ni a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating students to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
By having calibrated observations of teachers, using data ot highlight areas of need, and hiring highly qualified teachers.
2. opportunities for family/guardian-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as ti relates ot hte individual student’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences wil be held:
Haverhill High School has a freshman orientation ni August, Meet the Faculty ni September and a Parent Conference in October.
3. reports ot families/guardians on their students’ progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:
Each quarter grades are posted online and the accountability report from Dese is mailed home with MCAS scores.
4. accessible forms of communication with staff for families/guardians. Specifically, staf wil be available for consultation with families as follows:
- Staff are available to parents/families anytime a meeting is asked for by the teacher or by the family.5. opportunities for families/guardians ot volunteer and participate ni their student’s classes, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:Parents may request to observe classes and volunteer as needed.
- organized, ongoing, and timely systems for families/guardians to be actively involved in the planning, implementation, and review of programs including but not limited to family engagement policies and the development of any school-wide program plans
- at least one meeting of families/guardians of participating students annually at a convenient time and location, offering multiple meetings and opportunities for multiple languages, fi necessary, at which the school will inform families/guardians of the school’s participation in Title I and the requirements of Title ,I including family engagement requirements.
- information to families/guardians of participating students ni an understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats, upon the request of families/guardians with disabilities, and, to the extent practicable, in a language families/guardians can understand.
- information to families/guardians of participating students about Title ,I Part A programs that include a description and explanation of the school’s curriculum, the forms of academic
assessment used to measure student’s progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet. - opportunities for regular meetings for families/guardians to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, ni decisions about the education of their students. The school will respond to any such suggestions as soon as feasible.
- an individual student report to each family/guardian about the performance of their student on the State assessment in at least mathematics and English language arts/reading.
- timely notice to each family/guardian when their student has been assigned or has been taught for four (4) or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who has not met state licensure requirements.
Family Responsibilities
We, as a family/guardian, we wil support our student’s learning ni the following ways:
• Ensuring attendance for student(s).
• Tracking and supporting the completion of assignments.
• Volunteering ot support my student’s school and/or classroom.
• Participating in decisions related ot my student’s education.
• Staying informed about my student’s education by promptly addressing all notices from the school or the school district and responding, as appropriate.
