A must-see!! October 23, 2004 @ HHS Auditorium, 6-8 pm. Drug Story Theater and the City of Haverhill are proud to present a unique and impactful theatrical performance, “Back to Life” in observance of Youth Substance Use Prevention Month. This performance is designed to engage students, parents, and community members in a candid conversation about the dangers of drug use. Through a compelling narrative and a subsequent talkback session, we aim to shed light on the often-underestimated risks of experimenting with drugs. The performance is funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts DPH. The H.O.P.E. task force is a collaboration of community representatives from various sectors including government, education, safety, health and recreation.

CTE UPDATES

HHS Career Technical Education students in the Healthcare Occupations program learned about Hospice care from Tina Hardy of High Pointe Hospice House which is located in Haverhill. Healthcare Occupations Juniors and Sophomores heard stories of the supportive and caring jobs hospice houses can offer. They also learned how the physical environment of the hospice house can offer peace of mind and opportunities for those experiencing end of life care. The beautiful surroundings, inside and outside, are available for friends and family to be with their loved ones. Students learned about volunteer opportunities through job shadow days and internships as well as how hospice care can be a valuable, fulfilling career. For more information about CTE work-based learning opportunities, contact Lisa Hunt, lhunt@haverhill-ps.org.

BACKPACK 68

BACKPACK 68

Due to poverty levels in Haverhill, all students receive free breakfast and lunch at school.

But there are 68 hours between lunch on Friday and breakfast on Monday when many students go hungry.

If you are in a position to help the school community please reach out to Maureen Simmons!

Together we will make a difference towards food insecurity.

Thank you so much to all the community members who gave so much last year! It takes a village!
