CTE UPDATES
HHS was fortunate to have a visit from Neil Hentschel, Sr Software & Hardware Engineering Manager at CommScope. Mr. Hentschel spoke with the AP Computer Science class as well as the CTE Information Technology Juniors and CTE PLTW Engineering Seniors. Students heard about his background and his current position managing a remote lab for engineers from around the world. Information was shared about the various career paths that are available in this industry. While here, Mr. Hentschel had his blood pressure checked by his wife’s CTE Healthcare Occupations Juniors who are practicing for their clinical experience as they prepare for their nurse aide certification. Thank you Mr. Hentschel for sharing your time and experience with our students! For more information about CTE Work-Based Learning opportunities, contact Lisa Hunt at lhunt@haverhill-ps.org.
Career Technical Education Healthcare Occupations Senior, Jeslid Llenas, participated in a Job Shadow Day at KidSHINE. KidSHINE is a pediatric outpatient occupational therapy clinic providing evidence based therapeutic programming. It was a great opportunity for Jeslid to explore a field of healthcare working with children. According to Jeslid, the staff’s genuine care and the innovative, playful approach to therapy created a supportive environment where kids thrived. Witnessing their progress and the positive impact on their lives solidified my passion for this field and helped me discover my career path. It was a transformative experience, both professionally and personally.”. Thank you to the KidSHINE staff, and especially Emily DeCastro, for providing this amazing opportunity! For more information about CTE Work-Based Learning opportunities, contact Lisa Hunt at lhunt@haverhill-ps.org.

BACK PACK 68
Due to poverty levels in Haverhill, all students receive free breakfast and lunch at school.
But there are 68 hours between lunch on Friday and breakfast on Monday when many students go hungry.
If you are in a position to help the school community please reach out to Maureen Simmons!
Together we will make a difference towards food insecurity.
Thank you so much to all the community members who gave so much last year! It takes a village!
