APRIL BREAK
Our students were super busy over April Break learning about different cultures and countries, here are a few of their stories:
It was a true pleasure to accompany a group of outstanding “perfect 10” students on an unforgettable journey through France and Spain. Together, they created lifelong memories and gained meaningful insights—not only about the world around them, but also about themselves. They embraced the beauty of diverse cultures, learning from people who look, live, and speak differently from them.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parents and families who supported their students in every way, big or small. And to the students—thank you for representing Hillie Nation with pride, curiosity, and integrity. It was both an honor and a privilege to help turn this incredible dream into a reality.
Best wishes

CTE UPDATES
HHS Career Technical Education students Trey Lynch and Tiah Tarabay had the chance to shadow at Haverhill District Court. Thanks to Maricruz Lora, Maureen Irons, and Officer Gillian Privitera for organizing such a meaningful day!
Thank you to Judge Susan McNeil, Clerk Calvin Skeririk, Clerk Magistrate Doris A. Stanziani, Attorney Jennifer Vera, and Chief Probation Officer Felipe Romero for giving our students such a warm welcome. They took the time to answer questions, share their journeys, and offer inspiring advice for success. Thank you to Officer Gillian for adding a tour of the police station – it made the day even more memorable. Special thanks to Helin Nieves, HHS Internship Coordinator, for chaperoning the visit and making this day possible for our students!
We’re proud to be part of a community that opens doors for our students and helps them see what’s possible.

On Tuesday, April 29th, Mrs. Johnston’s CTE Biomedical Science Freshman classes were visited by Lawrence General Hospital trauma nurses Abby Wertz and Rob Lahey, who certified students in the American College of Surgeons Course “Stop the Bleed.” Students learned how to recognize life threatening bleeding, how to stay safe, and how to apply compression, pack wounds, and use combat applications tourniquets to save a life in an emergency situation. Students asked excellent questions, such as how to pack a dismembered limb for reattachment, what to do for people on blood thinners, how to handle children and those too small for tourniquets, if belts and improvised tourniquets are useful, how long tourniquets can be left on and more. Students had great fun applying practice tourniquets to each other and stopping simulated bleeding on mannequin limbs. At the end of class, students proudly accepted their “Stop the Bleed” certificates. Thanks to Abby and Rob and LGH for a great day!
On April 10th HHS CTE Engineering/Manufacturing, Information Technology and Computer Science and Web Development students had the opportunity to visit Crystal Engineering in Newburyport. Students learned about the engineering and manufacturing process and the many career opportunities available in this field. Hearing the career progression from various employees (those with many years of experience as well as those starting out as apprentices) was such an amazing component of the visit. Thank you to Michael Trotta and Brian Duchemin for welcoming our students to your facility and providing such an in-depth tour!
