MCJROTC November Newsletter
November was another busy month for the Haverhill MCJROTC. We celebrated the 249th Birthday of our Marine Corps with the Cadets and special guests. We performed several Color Guards for our local Veteran organizations and we had 38 Cadets run in the run for the troops 5K. We were honored to march in the Veterans Day Parade and the Christmas Parade in Haverhill. Our Commanding Officer Major Alcivar received the 2nd highest award at the Veterans Day Ceremony, the American Legion Medal. Our Pt team competed against 12 other PT teams around the Country and earned 1st Place. Bringing their total count of trophies so far this year to 31. Thank you for the Continued support of our program.
CTE UPDATES
Mrs. Johnston’s CTE Biomedical Science classes had a fantastic experience at Mass General Hospital’s Learning Lab on Friday. An obstetrician, physician’s assistant, and a midwife discussed various careers in the medical field. The students also got to perform an ultrasound on their own arm, practice delivering a baby on a model, and simulate a live birth on a high fidelity mannequin. The students got to take home their own stethoscopes. What a fun and exciting day! Many thanks to Gabriella Hakim and all the professionals at MGH!
HHS CTE Biomedical Science Sophomores in Mrs. Bamford’s class visited the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. They built spaghetti bridges in their Makerspace, were introduced to different aspects of Clinical Research and learned about MRI through a scan on a pineapple! Thanks to the staff for taking time out of their day to expose our students to the amazing and important work they are doing.
