    Dear Parents and Guardians:

It is with profound sadness that I share some difficult news.  A Senior from the Class of 2019 has passed away overnight from injuries sustained from a car accident.

Today our Haverhill High School counselors along with district and private counselors met with individual children and small groups of students who needed special time to talk with an adult.

Students react in different ways to tragedies.  As the adult caretakers, parents and teachers should expect, try to understand, and accept a variety of emotions and behaviors.  The most important thing we can do is to be supportive, to encourage discussion, and to be good listeners.

Additionally, you may notice your child struggling who did not know her well. Often, tragic events such as this can trigger students who have experienced loss in other areas of their life. Our counselors are available for all students.

Grief counselors will be available this evening from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in our main entrance conference room, auditorium, gymnasium and main entrance exterior walkway. Students and their families are invited to come in and take time to reflect, process and grieve as a community.

On Wednesday, September 26th we will be holding a candle light ceremony in memory of her passing.  This will be held at Haverhill High School on the fields at 6:00 p.m. In the event of rain, we will move it into the gymnasium. We hope to have the community of Haverhill and Hillie Nation join us at this time. There will be a memory box and index cards to write down memories and happy experiences for her family.

Family, neighbors and friends are helping the family at this time.  If you would like to send a card, please send it to school and we will forward it to the family.  Our sympathy, concern and prayers are with her family. Please keep her parents and siblings in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
