• The start of the school year has been extremely smooth. 
• Special Olympics Massachusetts has officially named Haverhill High School a 2025-2026 Unified Champion School 
• Most after school clubs have started​, some will be starting next week! Keep your eyes open, there’s something for everyone.
• Driver Education is coming back to Haverhill High School! The program is run by Berkeley Auto School. $350 deposit required for enrollment, total cost is $850. Students can take a late bus home. Limited seats, enroll today! Check Google Classroom for more information.
• Next Wednesday will be a ½ day, Blocks C & D
• Wednesday is also the morning for the Senior Sunrise on the back track! Followed by the Senior Class picture. 
• Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026
• We will be holding our PSAT exam for juniors on Thursday October 29, 2026, they need to sign up by Oct. 1. Sophomores can also opt in by filling out the google form on line.
• Picture retake day is coming up on Friday, Oct 9, 2026
• Thanks to the leg work done by Mr. Colten and VP Harper Mundy: Student Council coordinated student and staff involvement in the Haverhill Art Walk this Saturday.
• Movie Night is Oct. 29. We will be doing a poll to see which Halloween-themed movie students would like to see.
• Powderpuff is back and will again be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. There is discussion of doing a lottery system this year for picking teams.
• We are looking to bolster representation in our sophomore class. Right now, we have only 2 of 8 spots filled. So, we are looking to visit sophomore ELA classrooms to recruit.

SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS:

• We had a great turnout for our first football game on September 11, including many Haverhill students. They cheered the Hilies onto a 36-14 victory. The football team also won last week to improve to 2-0. The next home game will be on October 2.
• Haverhill High School football player George Papanikolaou was recently named a Boston Globe Player of the Week in September 2026 for his standout performance on the field. 
• HHS Crew Team rowed this year at the River Ruckus to showcase their hard work, it's always a joy to see them rowing on the Merrimack River. 
• The girls swim team won its first two meets of the season. The team is looking forward to another great year after their best season in school history last year. 
• The boys' soccer team had a huge conference win last Thursday, defeating Central Catholic 2-0. 
• The unified basketball team kicked off its season at home on Tuesday with a 57-52 win over Greater Lowell. 
• Overall, there are just under 400 student-athletes competing this fall in the 9 different sports being offered at the high school.
• We are excited about the major renovations at Haverhill Stadium that are just about complete. The entire turf was replaced and a new state of the art netting system was installed. The parking lot is currently paved and lined. Our Stadium continues to be one of the top sports venues in the area.
