HHS Summer Update- August 9, 2018
Beth Kitsos – Chief Academic Officer – Secondary Education
Mrs. Beth Kitsos has been promoted to the position of Chief Academic Officer – Secondary Education. She joined the Haverhill Public Schools in September of 1988 and has held positions at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Previously the principal at J.G. Whittier Middle School, Mrs. Kitsos became the associate principal at Haverhill High School in 2010. In January of 2014, she was appointed as the interim principal of Haverhill High School, and earned the permanent position in July of 2014.
Mrs. Kitsos has demonstrated the skills, knowledge, and commitment that are essential for success in a district leadership role. She holds a CAGS in Education Leadership from Fitchburg State, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Lowell, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State University.
Glenn Burns – Interim Principal – Haverhill High School
Mr. Glenn Burns has been appointed as Interim Principal of Haverhill High School. He began his career in Fall River, MA , where he held the positions of history teacher, vice principal for curriculum and instruction, and redesign coach. As a redesign coach, Mr. Burns developed systems and protocols for management of facilities, curriculum, and personnel in turnaround schools. In 2014, he was appointed principal of the Collins Middle School in Salem, MA.
Mr. Burns strongly believes that all students and teachers can and should be held to high expectations and that it is the job of the school to support students in reaching rigorous goals. With experience in program initiatives such as expanded learning time, maximizing time on learning, staff development, and promoting a safe learning environment, he has established a proven record for building consensus and collaboration in initiatives and exceeding student achievement goals. In addition to his experience and technical skills, his commitment to children and families and tireless work ethic make him an excellent match for the needs of Haverhill High School. He holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Providence College and completed the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College.
On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, staff of the Haverhill Public Schools and members of the community are invited to meet Mr. Burns as noted below:
