March for Peace:
So proud of our staff and students for participating last Saturday in the March for Peace on our City Streets! The walk started in GAR park and ended at Riverside Park.
Congratulations to Nancy Burke, Paraprofessional, who was recognized on Wednesday, October 3rd at the Statehouse in Boston for being a Kale Blazer award recipient. Please see the attached article from the Eagle Tribune on her success!

Progress Reports were uploaded to the Parent Portal earlier in the week. The HHS Parent Portal is an excellent way to stay up to date with your child’s grades, attendance, progress report, report cards and more. If you do not have access to the parent portal then please contact our main office at 978-374-5700 to verify your email address in the database. When that is verified then please email: email@example.com to request a password.
Homecoming Football Game:
The Homecoming Football game is this Saturday at 3:00 at Trinity Stadium.
No School Monday:
Please note that Monday is a holiday and there is no school for all students and staff. Please enjoy the three-day weekend! Stay safe!
Free and Reduced Lunch Forms
A reminder to all students that the Free and Reduced lunch forms are due on October 15th. That includes the annual renewals. So the ones approved last year will expire on the 15th if you have not submitted a new application. At some point in a lifetime, everyone faces hardships. Please do not hesitate to ask for help. The Free and Reduced lunch applications are available on our website, in the cafeteria and in the main entrance. If you have any questions please see Zoraida Jordan in the cafeteria.
Ireland and the UK in 2020
Parents of students interested in traveling to Ireland and the UK in 2020 can find more information here. A meeting for parents will be held in the main entrance conference room at HHS on Thursday, October 18th at 6:00 p.m.
School Counseling Update
- Parents and students are invited to attend a free MEFA College Financing Seminar, which will be held on Thursday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. This seminar is offered through MEFA (Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority), the Commonwealth’s experts on planning, saving, and paying for college. An experienced MEFA representative will provide an overview of the college financing process, including types of financial aid, how to apply, and financing options for your family. Before the seminar, be sure to visit MEFA’s website- www.mefa.org– to download a copy of the seminar presentation in English or Spanish and explore other tools and resources to assist you in the college planning process. There will be two sessions held simultaneously in English and Spanish. The English presentation will be held in the HHS Auditorium. The Spanish presentation will be held in the Main Office Conference Room.The counseling office will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT to registered students in grades 10 and 11 on Wednesday, October 10th. Testing will begin promptly at 7:25 a.m. and will end at 11am. Students should report directly to the M-wing on the day of testing.
- AP Student Expectations Agreement forms and AP exam deposits are due to Guidance by October 31st. Forms were distributed during AP classes this week. Any student enrolled in AP course(s) must submit a $45 deposit per exam. The completed form should be given to the AP teachers and payment can be turned in to the School Counseling Department. Payment may be made in the form of cash or check (payable to Haverhill High School). Please contact Mrs. Breslin or Ms. Cannon with any questions or concerns.
Information for Seniors
- College admission representatives are visiting HHS this fall. All scheduled visits are listed in Naviance under the “Colleges” tab. Students can sign up to meet with a college representative directly through Naviance or by signing up in the counseling office. Students must sign up a minimum of one day in advance and will receive a pass to attend this appointment in their first period class. Representatives from the following institutions will visit during the week of October 9th: UMass Amherst, Suffolk University, University of Rhode Island, Wheaton College, Salve Regina University, University of New Haven, Plymouth State University, and Champlain College.
