First Annual HHS Hall of Fame
On Saturday, May 13, 2017, for the first time Haverhill High School will be honoring graduates who have achieved success on the sport and academic performance at Haverhill High School by success on courts, fields and classrooms. Haverhill has so much to be proud and sometimes we lose sight of the “gems” within the city. As a community we always need to look for the good in all and build on the achievements of many. I encourage all to join us for this event the “last call” for tickets will be Monday, May 8, 2017. Thank you for your continued support of the Haverhill Public Schools. Please see the information below on this wonderful event.
Today, students from Mr. Pike’s Constitutional Law class participated in Law Day. Law Day is a holiday that has been celebrated in the U.S.A since 1958 to show that we are a nation of law and order. Each year at the Haverhill Bar Association’s celebration of Law Day, Haverhill High Students argue a real Supreme Court Case in front of several judges from the Haverhill District Court. This year, two students, seniors Audrey Therriault and Michael Murphy (see pictures below) presented the oral arguments to a panel of local judges. Both of these students did an excellent job and impressed all of the judges and lawyers that participated in this program to commemorate the day. Thanks to Social Studies teacher Mr. Rob Pike for his continued participation in this exciting event.
Seniors Class of 2017: Prom Ticket sales continue through May 10th in the cafeteria during all three lunches and in room K12. This year your prom will be at Seaglass is Salisbury on May 30th from 6:00 to 11:00. Tickets are $80.00 per student. Guest forms need to be submitted by May 19th.
There is a paid summer internship opportunity available for graduating seniors interested in working with the developmentally disabled. This is a great opportunity for students pursuing careers in special education. Interested students should stop by the Internship room – Library Room 6 for more information.
For all students we have created a new job opportunities webpage to find out about available job opportunities with local employers. The page is on the HHS site under Parent/Student Resources.
Congratulations again to Nancy Burke who has been awarded $300.00 dollars, from The Haverhill Education Foundation, for our new “Outdoor Science Center” and Garden courtyard. The K-wing, “Outdoor Science Center” is going to be a “True Green” spot, with the support of a “farm to School” program at Haverhill High School. It is also the first school in the country, to have an Orchard.
All of Hillie Nation would like to thank Target, located on Computer Drive in Haverhill for their contribution of a $50 gift certificate for the purchase of a new microwave oven for our Culinary Arts Program.
